My life is often compared to a reality show and I am regularly referred to as a sitcom character. As head of the marketing and strategy division of IIR I have to say - I’m not your typical “head of”…

It might have something to do with the fact that I have four daughters under the age of 13 and a life that I balance somewhat successfully through technology, support, flexibility and the fact that I’m fortunate enough to know how lucky I truly am and to get my priorities straight.

I hold two main roles within my company (IIR) where as the leader of the marketing and strategy business unit I’m charged with driving profitable growth. That’s not exactly as easy as it sounds, especially in these times. I love the challenge, keeps me on my toes, and never, ever complacent.

The other, most recently acquired position is called Innovation Director where I’m afforded the freedom to take risks (calculated of course!) and create meaningful change to ensure IIR as a sustainable business and brand. It’s very exciting.

For both, the common denominator lies in passion, and that is both my greatest strength and my most conspicuous weakness. Anyone who knows me will attest to that.

My most vocal enthusiasm as of late is in the “health is the new wealth” craze. “60 being the new 40” means that people are merging their professional and personal lives more and more as they continue to work well into their “silver” years. People are actually enjoying their work, or finding new careers that fulfill them both personally AND professionally. I love that. Now if only someone would reinvent the brand “40” globally …

That’s why I love my world. Through my conferences I meet the smartest, talented and most interesting and accomplished people whose stories impact my own life as much as the conference participants. Along with my team, we make that happen. We facilitate connectivity, drive change and impact people’s lives forever. We bring ideas to life. We are catalysts of growth and of change. It just doesn’t get much better than that.

Join the Exploration...

In a great article I just read, Scott Anthony (one of the many keynotes at Front End of Innovation Europe 2010) writes about how this past year could have potentially marked the end of the Innovation Movement - and yet, how a year later Innovation is more important now than ever. Whew.

AN interesting fact - today a company that enters the Standard & Poor 500 index will stay on it for less than 20 years. Well, y'all and w'yall better get crackin... Here's to looking ahead and thinking NEXT.
